Options for Investing in Residency in the U.S.A

USA EB-5 Investor Visa

The EB-5 visa gives permanent U.S. residency to those investing in government-approved projects across the United States of America. The EB5 visa is essentially a green card through investment. Investors are rewarded with a green card (after two years), although these are limited to 10,000 applicants yearly, with 5,000 of this total reserved for regional centers. Many of the EB5 projects are related to real estate. All such investments are packaged, involving minimal investor participation. The main applicant must reside in the USA for six months per year. Success rates for the Eb-5 can vary and will depend on the investment type, personal situation, legal representation, regional center, and other factors.

Two ways to invest in the EB-5:

Creation of a New U.S. Enterprise

To be eligible for this investment option, applicants must meet the following criteria:

A. Make an investment of US$1.8 million in a new commercial enterprise or US$900,000 if that enterprise is in a Targeted Employment Area, including rural areas or areas with unemployment of at least 150 percent that of the national average.
B. Create full-time employment for at least ten qualified U.S. workers who must be direct employees of the commercial enterprise.
C. Actively manage the day-to-day activities and/or policy formulation of the enterprise.

Investment in a Regional Center (EB-5 REGIONAL CENTER)

The Regional Center Program, also known as the Immigrant Investor Program, sets aside EB-5 visas for participants who invest in commercial enterprises associated with regional centers based on proposals for promoting economic growth. Regional centers are investment opportunities that have been pre-approved by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.
To be eligible for this investment option, applicants must meet the following criteria:
A. Make an investment of US$800,000.
B. The investment must be “at risk” and create full-time employment for two years for at least ten qualified U.S. workers, where indirect employment is permitted.
C. Active management of the enterprise is not required.
